Re: [GBlist] Benjamin Moore Pristine Eco Spec paint
We've had a problem with the darker colours in the Pristine Eco Spec (BM has
a numbered rating system of 1 to 4 to rate the value [light vs dark] of the
paint colour and recommends that the Eco Spec only be used for the lower
numbers [lighter colours]). The Benjamin Moore store shouldn't have sold
that paint in a darker colour (if it is in fact a darker colour that's
giving you the problems).
Most zero VOC paints can't be tinted in the dark colours, in our case we
covered the BM paint with a high performance zero VOC (pre-tinted) paint
from Cloverdale Paint, this brand may not be available in your area. In the
very, very high traffic areas we used the 'allegory' wall covering from
Innovations as even the Cloverdale paint couldn't perform in the darker
colours in that environment. I have heard (from the list) that AFM paint
can be tinted any colour, even black, the colourants are also zero VOC
unlike most other brands and the performance is good, but I have no
experience with this paint.
