hi all
-
it's been
a few years since i've given this
workshop -
please
help get
the word out (forward to
whoever
may be interested).
it's
geared for lay-folks but architects/builders
just
getting into this work get something
out of
it. it's
a compact
day, mostly opening doors
to be
explored by doing the work.
the
workshop will take place just outside
washington, dc.
in peace
and play,
bill

Ecology
: The mysterious process of making Home.
Learn ro
create a nurturing and beautiful home
(or
add-onto or renovate your house)
which
provides refuge as it places you in harmony with the land.
This
will be an experiential (playful, reflective) workshop
exploring ecological practices through a
series
of
creative exercises and the design of a house for a site.
We will
develop ways to:
Give expression
to our nurturing images of home
as found in our
dreams, memories, beliefs and ancestry.
Design a home
that naturally and simply connects us to the land
as it becomes
the heart of our living.
Rediscover the
timeless qualities of vernacular building,
the roots of
Ecological (and passive energy/solar) Design Practices.
These include
thick walls, real materials and solid construction,
spaces that
gather and hold warm sunlight
and cool breezes
and nature's rhythms.
Explore local
ecologically-sound building components and
current
technologies available in the evolution of
Ecological
Building Practices.
Engage with the
nurturing spaces of our home
as a way to form
more intimate relationships with
nature and the
earth, our loved ones and who we are at heart.
