I do agree with involving politics with the green movement.
However, we should keep a lid on it and try and tie it in with building if
possible. I do feel that this list has become less green over the years as i've
participated and watched. This probably is influenced by the iron fist of
politics in the U.S. that is trying to squash any footholds the green movement
is BUILDING. There are still great things on this list, and a wealth of
information. Up here in BC there are good things happening. People are
questioning off gassing of their structures more and more. Passive solar design
is a common term now, straw bale and cob are being used
extensively...etc.etc....We are fighting like braves up here and will not give
up striving to become more green until we are truly sustainable in our
design.

Subject: [GBlist] Are politics REALLY off
topic?
Hi,
I understand that some of you don't like for
political discussions to go on the whole list.
I agree that political discussions sometimes take away from the basic
goal of the list. BUT, for me, the issue of environmentalism
(which greenbuilding falls neatly into) IS a political issue and we need
to stop being afraid of calling a spade a spade. I spend enough
time surrounded by anti-environmentalists who are hostile toward me because I
try to be conscientious and I am tired of it. I don't want to make
enemies but I cannot stand it when someone tries to tell me how concerned
W is for my welfare.
I apologise if I offended anyone.
