Eric has good intentions, but what seems to happen with people like him, who
start out on solar end up going to the grid as soon as the grid becomes
within their reach. I feel that Eric is far outnumbered, unfortunately, by
those who would drop solar in a heartbeat. I congradulate Eric and I only
hope that once grid power becoemes available he isnt' the only one wanting
to be off grid. I only hope his friends are as committed to solar as he is.
And yes living "off grid" myself in the past sure makes one come face to
face with what true  energy conservation and energy efficency is all about.
I have installed many a system in a "cabin" where I knwo the owners look at
solar as an alternative to paying the huge costs of laying power lines to
their residence. The sad part is solar energy , especially for the older
generation liek my parents, is only a neccessary eveil and gets dropped as
soon as the "easy" power becomes available.

The true solar supporters are the ones who stick with solar no matter how
close the grid becomes. These are the true pioneers in the solar energy
field! I admire people who truely support solar energy like Eric and live
with it day to day.
