PV: Many,Many Thanks and Three Questions
Firstly the thanks.....
To everyone who contributes, de-lurks and yes...even lurks
alone.....THANKS
We feel a wonderful sense of community every time we sit at our computer
and visit with friends, known and yet-to-be-known...who care about the
quality of life more than the quantity of wealth......
So...a heartfelt thanks and a wish that we all can live a little/lot
better being a part of this big family....strawbalers/pv users and
more...we know that our home that we're building this summer will be
full of great ideas, friendly thoughts and even some straw from
Australia.....all as a result of the caring family we've grown to be a
part of
Question 1....we will be starting a website to document and share our
experiences...we can use a computer but are not experienced with
html.....any suggestions for a program that will allow us to put photos,
text and a few links onto a website without tearing out our hair...this
will be happening while we're building the house and living in a tent
Question 2 for the balers....Serious Strawbale suggests laying 3 string
bales on their sides for post and beam....it would in fact save us over
$1200 in bale/foundation and roof costs..any red flags????
Question 3 for the PV users.....we've seen excellent prices for
equipment on the net.....Siemens 100's for $420 etc ....and we've also
seen packagers who offer to get involved with the design, set-up and
on-going maintenance.....So the question is...for a fairly handy and
sensible person who is planning to do most of the house electrical work
himself, how much more complicated is a pv/wind system and how often do
they need what might be called "warranty" work? How valuable is a
packager who will exchange expertise and follow-up for an extra ?? in
costs above the least-expensive suppliers (using exactly the same
factory warranted components) would they be worth $1000, $2000 ???
Thanks and good wishes to all
