Re: [pvusers] My bedroom is already off grid...

> Cool! Think about putting in a sub-panel from your breaker panel that will
distribute the inverter power where you want it. That way you can get use
your wall sockets and get rid of all those extension cords.

Recently,I bought an Emergen breaker box from the Home Depot.... actually
I bought three of them, since they were on sale....This switch box allows me
to
re-route 10 house circuits from the main box, and switch them to my PV
input.

I like the Emergen switch.... if I get into trouble, I can quickly switch
to the
grid with the flick of a switch... the box even has two watt meters on
it...

Anyway.... I will eventually install the Emergen box, and then I will be
able to
switch all my house outlets from grid power, to the PV system.... but....
for
now.... I am still experimenting... mostly to see how my battery power
lasts...
and what kind of PV power generation I can expect when I have a long string
of rainy or cloudy days.... It's a step at a time for me...

I now have 8, 90 watt PV panels up... I have four more panels that are not
up....
since on sunny days, the 8 panels can generate over 50 amps.... I decided
not
to put up the remaining 4 panels at this time, as the extra panels could
generate
more power than my Trace, TC 60 (60 amp) charge controller could handle...

Pictures of my setup (showing 6 panels, not 8 panels) are on my solarliving
web page at :

                     http://geocities.com/solarliving/OfftheGrid.html

if anyone is interested....

Gig
