I am putting together my first system and wondered if anyone
out there has advice on locating used batteries.
Lead-acid or Ni-cad or AGM I'm not fussy just short on
funds. I currently live in Georgia and am building a small post and beam straw
bale in a little piece of heaven --- Sewanee, Tenn.
Thanks

The Golf Cart batteries I used were all new...
but not very expensive....
I think I paid about $58 each for them....
they were six volts... so I
needed to buy them in pairs, to make 12
volts.... since then... I have seen
similar golf cart batteries at Sams Warehouse,
for about $45 each...
The brand name I bought were US Battery...
but... Trojan Batteries
are good, too... and there are some other good
names...
A friend of mine located a cell phone
provider, who was changing
out their large 1000+ amp hour batteries in
one of their cell phone
towers... they gave him the old batteries...
if he carted them off...
he has done this several times... and now has
a collection of 19,700
amp hours of batteries.... enough to power his
home for about 6
months, of darkness...
