Re: [pvusers] PV battery-free frig - SunDanzer
I know the refrigerator to which you refer. The company is Sundanzer
(www.sundanzer.com) now out of Sparks, NV. The founder is from the NASA
refrigeration team. They sell a PV-direct refrigerator guaranteed for 7
days without power even in a tropical climate. Here's the spec sheet
(http://www.sundanzer.com/images/pdf_BattFreeSpecs.pdf)
More importantly, I believe, are the DC/battery-powered freezers and
refrigerators they make as well. They come in two sizes each and are all
top-opening. (http://www.sundanzer.com/images/pdf_BattPwrdSpecs.pdf)
I met with the owner who told me that most of his business is in the third
world. He stated that since American manufacturers of mainstream rigs have
finally gotten the message on consumption, he doesn't have a big market
here.
But if you don't mind a top-opener and are looking to help out the little
guy, it might be a great way to go. We're talking 17 amp hours a day at 12V
for the 8 cubic foot fridge model. It looks WAY bigger than it sounds. Not
too shabby.
The designer/owner's name is David and he'd be happy to help out.
