I Can't speak for everyone here, but I've been living off the grid with a
PV-based system since 1994. I also have been using a propane refrigerator
since then, as the relative economies of an inexpensive old Servel vs. ANY
electric refrigerator powered by PV make the argument moot in my case. I
think that makes the subject of propane refrigerators as germane to off-grid
living as, say, cellphone rechargers.
