Re: [pvusers] Lightning & MPPT
I have a Off-Grid system, it was put together 4+ years ago.
I have 3 PV arrays, each of which went into a C40 charge controller.
Lightning hit a couple of weeks ago.
It had to be a righteously close hit, since 1 CF bulb (on 110V side)
literally
blew up. A Square D QO 50A breaker broke, and Ialso lost all 3 C-40's.
Which brings me to my question.
I'm interested in changing to MPPT for my charge controllers.
Any recommendations or ideas?
Feedback from actual users would be appreciated.

Sorry about your loss....
I am off grid too... and have worried about lightning... it is
the only thing that could hurt... I understand a MTTP type
controller is a bit pricy... it is the only negative thing I can
say about it.... my sytem was put together in January of
A PV system spoils a person...
