Re: [pvusers] hello! i have a question!

Eve,
Whilst I am an avid "do it myself-er", I can empathyse with your desire to
make Solar Panels. There are a number of factors which the home builder of
these panels must consider:
1. Price of individual cells, glazing, assembly sealing and framing.
2. Performance of final product.
3. Cost of commercially available panels & warranty of new panels.
4. Cost of second hand (used) panels.
Based on these factors, I have purchased (2 year ago) 1500W peak of new
panels. This was subject to a grant, and I would be reluctant to pay
current "New" prices for panels, unless grants were available for a
significant % of price.
Second hand panels are a good option, as they can provide excellent value
for money compared with the new or the home assembled panels. When
purchasing these panels, knowledge of the panel specifications and
comparitive new price, is essential to ensure value for money.
Many of my projects are undertaken for the experience value, and as I
cannot put a value on someone else's experience, I will leave that up to
you.
The above are worth consideration to ensure informad choices are made.
Keepin' it green,
Tony
