This is superb info re: induced noise - which is what I was thinking of 
with the Hammond issue - but in this case I was asking about acoustic 
noise generated directly from the unit itself into the air.

Like, if I was in a closet with a fully-loaded Exeltech, what would I hear?

In the case of my ancient Trace (modified square wave) the answer is a 
brutal honking buzz. Exactly what you'd expect from putting a low-
frequency waveform with step transitions through a big piece of iron.
