Not to be pedantic about this, but there's bound to be a transformer in 
there.

I suspect the topology uses a full-voltage H-bridge for the output stage. 
The transformer will be ahead of that in the DC-DC up-converter. It'll be 
a relatively little guy, operating at a frequency not even bats can hear, 
but it's there.
