RE: [pvusers] Spam? No !

I am Gregory Boutin-Wang, the founder of U-solar.com

I subscribed to this digest of this newsletter with an e-mail address
different from 24h@u-solar.com. The address I used is fine, without any
autoresponder.

Before that, I had also subscribed to the mailing list (not the digest) with
the address 24h@u-solar.com, not thinking about its auto-responder and even
less aware that it would advertise our site in a cheap, spam-like way. I
definitely have no interest in doing this. U-solar is already well-placed on
major search engines and enjoys partnerships with reputed companies, and our
image is buid on trust and reliability, so there is ABSOLUTELY no point for
me in adopting precarious promotional methods.

After having subscribed to the digest with another address, I sent an e-mail
to the ezmlm program in order to remove 24h@u-solar.com from the list. It
seems that it did not complete the task, and since 24h@u-solar.com has an
autoresponder, this explains why postings to the list automatically generate
an auto-response. I cannot guarantee that I did not make a technical
mistake. Yet I work with Internet on a day-to-day basis and never had any
problem handling mailing lists.

If anybody had any similar problem to be removed from the list or when
subscribing to its digest, I would like to hear about it. I remember that
there was a message about such an issue about 2 to 3 months ago (no joke),
saying that people subscribing to the digest were receiving individual
postings. Could it have anything to do with my problem?

I don't find the message providing an e-mail address to remove
24h@u-solar.com from the list. I also don't think that the website of Crest
offers the option. So I need the moderator (Robert Warren?) to do it
urgently, or to tell me what address I should send an e-mail to (that should
be something like pvusers-unsubscribe-mailinglist=****@crest.org ?). I am
now trying with pvusers-unsubscribe-mailinglist=u-solar.com@crest.org.

I personally apologize for the inconvenience caused to all PV-users.
It also goes without saying that I would like to be kept posted to the
digest in the future.

And by the way, many thanks to Gig and Scott to have detected the problem.
Now I know why I receive all these error messages ('Your message could not
be sent to the folowing addresses...') from my auto-responder every day!

I didn't request anything, I didn't (intentionally) send email to these
folks.

I can see where this could be an intentional, or unintentional, bit of
spam. If the former, I would like the list operator to rap the appropriate
knuckles. If the latter, I still think u-solar should take steps to ensure
that list members are excluded from their autoresponder.

Or am I just being uptight, maaaan?
