RE: [pvusers] Question on inverting DC to AC
Wouldn't we all!
An AC system has a peak voltage 1.414 times the RMS (root mean square)
value.
The heating value in a resistor of 120V RMS (which is how the power in your
house is measured) is the same as 120 DC. It actually achieves 1.414 times
that at its peak as I mentioned.

Subject: [pvusers] Question on inverting DC to AC
Is the process of converting DC to AC simplified by keeping the voltage
the same? For example, converting 120VDC to 120VAC. I ask because I'd
like to be able to save money on an inverter for a system I'm
contemplating. If I could eliminate most of the expense of an inverter
I'd be thrilled . . .
Thanks,
Christopher Witmer
