Re: Tom's drips
The cooling effect from cooling towers comes from the latent heat of
evaporazition. It takes 1 cal to raise/lower one gram of water 1 degC but
when the liquid water changes phases to water vapor it takes 540 cal to
vaporize 1 gram of water. So divide your heat load by 540 and that is how
many grams of water you need to vaporize. One proven way to vaporize water
in cooling towers is to let the hot water drip down wooden slats.
