Brilliant Ian -- simply brilliant!

Have appended a note I sent to Dean off-list along these same "interesting"
lines.

Peter -- Belize

Dear Dean;

Really think this idea is "cute":

>1.) LED's powered by a gravity
>driven generator, a heavy weight hauled up a tree when lights are needed.

Easy to magnify this by using a hand winch.

Or even a simple steam cylinder??

Or how about a single stroke cylinder using butane.

During the day -- sun hits it -- weight is lifted. At night -- it cools --
retracting.

Further -- power out of both "strokes" -- up during the day -- down at night.

No valves -- crank -- etc.

Anyway -- beats a battery!

Prior Art??

Well it certainly worked for powering clocks for 100's of years!

clock work inertial drive??

Love it!!

Peter
