Re: Metal Roofing

I've lived in a house with a metal roof for the past eight years. You
can hear the rain on the roof, but it is a pleasant sound and not very
loud. If we are in the living room with music or the TV on, it is barely
noticable. It has been louder in the bedroom, but there has always
been a window left open a crack. We have some...not lots...of
insulation. Hail is loud, but hail really happens very rarely. We
haven't had problems with condensation, but there is ventilation. If I
were building in an area that might possibly be involved in wildfire, I
would absolutely have a metal roof.

There have been some questions about wildfire on the list lately. If
this is a concern where you live, there are some excellent publications
that your local fire dept., Forest Service, or Dept. of Natural Resources
should have concerning actions you can take to make your house safer.
Green spaces, flammable debris, types of plants, as well as wall and roof
materials can make a big difference where wildfire is concerned.
