another 2 cents on metal roofing

I've got metal roofs on every building on this place: two hay
barns, a small tack shed/livestock shelter, a garage, a utility
shed, and a workshop. If it rains really hard and the roof is
completely unfinished, eg., you are standing under metal, it
can be almost deafening. OTOH, if you have a ceiling or insulation
under the roof, it becomes pretty much a non-issue. In our adobe
home, we can rarely tell that it is raining except for the sound
of rain hitting our cars outside (and the fact that the cat wants
to come in *NOW*). In the workshop, it is a little louder, but
this building only has a very low shed roof with sheetrock underneath.
