I once found some land in a great location.  Unfortunately it also had the
large  power lines running across it diagonally.  A search on the web for
EMFs gave many informative sites, and the government 1-800 number for
further information.

You can call the power company for the area and they will come out and take
readings on the lines, and tell you what reading they get per how many feet
away from the line they stand (this includes the height also).

The results will show how far away you MUST be from the power lines for
safety.  In many countries they have set safety standards for emf'
distances.  I don't remember what they are now, but, they are very low, like
2.5 or something (sorry, outa sight outa mind).

With high transmission lines the EMFs change, going higher with peak times.
In my location that was at 7-10am, and again at 4-530 pm.  At those times
the safety distance was 175 ft, and at other times only 150ft.

The gentleman that came out was very polite, but didn't believe in EMF's
being harmful, and explained how his house was build right under high power
lines.  Too bad I said.  ;)

Some people believe using micro-waves and hair dryers, electric tooth
brushes, monitors, etc, items that have high emfs and are close to your
body, head are more dangerous than the high power lines.

Each person must decide for themselves and there is a lot of research and
data available on the net.  I didn't buy the land.
