In southern Idaho, the rain and snow can blow horizontally at a fierce rate
from the ground up. One year while walking a block or so across open
grounds to the Christmas show everyone was covered only on one side with
snow.
There were several people inside the doors waiting to brush us all off.
Just in that short distance run, you would get about 1/2 inch of compacted
snow on you. It was fascinating to watch.
When I made the crossing I was wearing a funny after foot surgery shoe and
sporting a cane. I had over an inch in some places when I arrived.
