Re: Gypsum plaster>>Applied Artistry book

Hi Sara and plaster-frenzied, First to those longing for a How To on
plaster for alt building; I am talking with Keely Meagan of Earth Artisans
who's putting her knowledge down on plastering strawbale and other
surfaces. She hopes to have it together for poublication by June i think.
She's been published in TLS ( and DuckChow editor put some articles she
wrote online somewhere (? where?)

Also Gary and Shahoma of Our Helping Hands, have been plastering for
several years and are now living in Hawaii (lucky devils, if you like
island life, lush greenery, peaceful susets and gorgeous sunrises, a manana
way of life.)
Anyway they are about half done on a book on SB plastering and I keep
pestering them to finish it. you can call them for techy advice
..voicemail is 541-482-7131 and they have a new # in HI but I can't find it
.

I do want to recommend Jocasta Innes books,Applied Artistry, and she has
others in her "Paint Magic" series that I have seen on floors and walls,
small books, about $14 I think, since she plasters over old lathe, lime,
etc and her color photos and techniqes are wonderful for beginners, and
inspiring to anyone doing anything to walls and surfaces.

I sent Ianto Evans of Cob Cottage a copy and he was blown away by Applied
Artistry..seeing finished work using old techniques and natural methods
makes you want to have lots of walls to do!

I am playing with lime plasters now, on lathe, not SB, but I added laundry
blueing to a thin coat limewash...and it is a very soft watercolory pale
blue. I want to try deeper shades and wash the limeplaster with it , but no
major results to report yet.
