JANUARY MEETING:</underline> " The State of the State"
As an emerging field, green design is evolving more rapidly than any of
us can follow individually. Success therefore comes from a broad
knowledge of available strategies, technologies, incentives, and from
an understanding of the interconnectedness of the professions that
create our built environment.
We are kicking off the New Year with a "State of the State" meeting-
inviting all of our participants to a roundtable discussion of what's
going on in Green Design and Development in Massachusetts. Our members
represent a broad cross section of professions: architects, engineers,
landscape architects, lawyers, NGO's, building owners, developers,
facilities managers, contractors, universities, product
manufacturers, state local and federal agencies, and many more.
Whether you develop, design, finance, occupy or maintain property, or
work in policy and regulation, we invite you to share what you're doing
and to learn what others are doing. Network with other professionals
across the industry and discover opportunities for sharing resources
and creating joint gains.

The Green Roundtable Mission Statement</underline>
The Green Roundtable, Inc. (GRT) is an independent non-profit
organization whose mission is to promote and support healthy, efficient
and sustaining development and building projects. The GRT provides a
forum for dialogue among diverse professions, creates partnerships with
other organizations and provides resources, training and education.
Our strategy is to educate people commissioning and operating buildings
to define their green requirements and expectations while
simultaneously training and supporting design professionals to provide
the services that meet these growing needs. At the same time, we work
with policy and regulatory bodies to encourage the requirement of
responsible and efficient design, so that eventually it will become the
norm.
The GRT strives to mainstream 'green' and ultimately become obsolete.
The GRT consults to design professionals and client groups on green
team building. We facilitate charrettes to integrate the different
entities in the design process, provide advice on material selection
and specification and implement the LEED rating system of the United
States Green Building Council within project teams. We are active in
helping to establish green building standards in many different
organizations and agencies.<underline>
