Re: Career advice?
From: Mark von Wodtke <mjvonwodtke@csupomona.edu>
Kirsten,
There are many opportunities to work for the environment (instead of
against it).
Green architecture, focused on natural building, is one way--related to
your interest in straw bale buldings. Eco-system based landscape
architecture, focused on regenerative design, is another way. With a
degree in either architecture or landscape architecture you can do
design/build, you may also be a design consultant. Design professionals
may also carry out entrepreneurial and advocacy roles that enable them to
carry out projects they believe in.
I would be happy to try to answer your questions.
Mark von Wodtke ASLA
Professor of Landscape Architecture and
Principal in the Claremont Environmental Design Group
(we provide architectural, landscape architectural and planning services
focused on regenerative design)
