propane use

To homeowners who use propane to cook/heat water:

The recent huge price increase in propane/gas prices has us concerned
and we would like to get some real-life feedback....the gas company here
can't/won't say what an average 4 person family might use for cooking
and backup hot-water heating ( to a solar collector) on a monthly
basis....

we're building 1400 sqft strawbale and will only use the propane for
cooking and hot water backup for a family of 4.....if your hot water is
all propane/natural gas please note that so we can adjust for our solar
input....

thanks for your answers.....
