Re: SB: FWD: 36 reasons not to build with SB

G ' Day Rob

I have had the same problem with a muddie from Victoria who gave me a very
hard time comparing SB with mud bricks. I had to put the phone down after a
torrent of abuse, seems we have the muddies worried! However I have no axe
to grind with them and my answer to them is providing we are using
sustainable materials earth or straw etc. then there is room for all of us.
I also point out to these stressed out muddies that the 'talk' around town
amongst pro builders is that mud brick homes take seven years to build and
seven years to finish!

Also mud bricks do not sequest carbon, have little or no insulation but have
great thermal mass. So a marriage between the two would work well in any
house but they do not seem to want to get married or even have an affair with
us balers!

So most of the 36 points could be dealt with but why bother? Neither
industry is in main stream building as yet and straw bale has the potential
to get accepted on a much larger scale and a lot quicker than mud
bricks/adobe ever will. IMHO.

Kindest regards The Straw Wolf
