SB: Re: FL sb house
>Strawboss,
Thanks for > information. I guess it really all depends on the building
codes that are in place. Other than calling each county's bulding codes
department, is there a more efficient way of finding out which counties
would be more flexible than others?<
No it DOESN'T depend on the codes in place. They are pretty much the
same all over the state.
It is 98% attitude of the building dept.
My suggestion would be to get all your info, documentation and
experience (workshop, etc) together FIRST, & go in with a wide open
attitude. If you call around with tenative, insecure questioning, they
might not take you as seriously as you want.
Give the appearance you are confident and capable of doing this type of
building. Make sure they know one has already been built in Florida
fully permitted.
Start at the top - Head of the Building dept.
Don't waste your time taking NO from someone who isn't in a position to
give you a YES.
Go in like you expect to be dealt with in a respectful and helpful
manner.
Show surprise if they give you a problem. Offer more info if that seems
to be what they need but maintain your attitude that this is just another
house and they give permits all day long everyday.
Give it your best prepared and planned shot.
