SB: SB Workshop/Studio

Hi all!
I have finally lead my hubby into the fold. Actually, I told
him I'm going to build a SB studio/workshop and he perked up
and said, "OK". He's been asking questions and peeking over
my shoulder while I research the SB web sites and data
bases. It has been a while since I was actively interested
in building with bales.
Some of you may remember, my husband had an accident that
resulted in severe head and neck injuries, and which also
left him with brain damage.

The past 2 years has been very strange to say the least. I
grew tired of trying to convince him we should build a home
with bales. I said nothing about it for about a year until
yesterday. Now, he is interested! Whether he is for it or
not, I will be building one soon!
Anywho, while I was a member the strawbale list (I just
rejoined it), someone from Norway or Denmark(?) sent a link
to a site which included pics of a very awesome
studio/workshop they had built. I don't remember the
country, but I was told by one of them that "Lem" (my
nickname, short for Lemuria) meant "penis" in Danish (?).
Does that ring a bell? ;)
The studio had a big foot like structure (toes and all) in
the middle which served as a fireplace. I believe the
building was round. Mark Kifer, or anyone else remember it?
Did you save the link or know how I might be able to locate
it?
I got on the SBL and noticed they no longer have a search
engine for the SBL. I believe the link/message in question
was posted in '98.

Any other examples of SB workshop/studio structures would be
greatly appreciated. I remember seeing links to several.
I have also been talking to the OK DOE (energy), the OK DOC
(commerce) and Ms. Bode from the Corporation Commission
about studies and/or grants that might be applied to SB
const. for housing being that we are heading for an even
more horrific energy crisis than the one I endured in Dec.
going a week w/o heat and power. CA should serve as a
warning to nay sayers. I am currently trying to get
registered for a workshop on grantwriting through OUJPTP.
I am in the process of forming an OCCY community partnership
board for the county I reside in that will address problems
and issues pertaining to low income children, youth and
families. Shelter and high utility bills are big issues
here. This county was 1 of the poorest counties in the
nation until they became 1 of the biggest producers of
methamphetamines (illegal, of course) in recent years.
I hope to eventually incorporate SB home building projects
into our community planning as a means of acquiring low
energy homes, for community building activities, etc. Any
ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
