SB: rubble rumblings and sound damping

Dear list posters all,

"But I think the truth is actually closer to the fact that Barb really
knew that 100 mph winds would provide her with some interesting sights
from "down under" and merely understated their intensity so as to dupe
gullible, kilt-clad male lupins of the human persuasion into providing
her with some entertainment."

Oh, if only it were true, gyratin' Garazgos! After such public and clever
chastisement as wolfie friends have offered, I hesitate to respond about
addled brain calculations sans the excuse of a brownout. A quick pencil
scritching was 45 m/sec = 270 m/min. There being about 3.2 ft/meter, I
figgered 864 ft/min, and in the range of 52,000 ft /hr, or....a
zephyriferous condition. Red-faced and glad you can't send doughnut through
this list....

Now for the next query: we plan to house our generator in a bale building
for sound insulation, but til we get it built, want to sound insulate the
wooden shed in which the noisy beast currently sits. The new building will
abut the shed. Anyone know about the sound damping qualities of rigid foam?
Have another suggestion for a temporary solution? (Yeah, I can just
anticipate more California bashing, as in WHY would folks with our solar
exposure be running a gen anyway? Very shaded site until we remove some big
trees.)

Thanks for the advice I know will be forthcoming from this lively group!

Barbara in the foothills.
