SB: Pinning

Exciting day today - final day for responses to my planning application -
I've cleared all the building control queries on the bales and provided by
midnight tonight there are no complaints, the planner intends to put them
through on delegated powers and won't be taking them to planning committee.
Of course it being Easter I won't know till Tuesday whether there was any
response, so I shall have a nervous few days.

Being so close to getting approval has led me to restudy my plans again (for
the thousandth time) and a couple more questions have dropped out - they may
well have been covered previously.

I'm planning structural door and window frame with external pinning to hold
the bales in place - on this basis is it ok to omit the rebar for the bottom
course ?

also - I have a couple of gable ends where I have a roof overhang of 75cms.
I've been a bit concerned that this will leave the lime render exposed at a
height which I might find difficult to monitor and repair, so I have planned
larch cladding to cover the triangle at the gable end. How should I treat
the bales behind the cladding ?
leave them alone ? spray on a fire retardant ? or a single scratch coat of
clay plaster ? or more.

thanks
kes
