Re: SB: earth and lime plaster: update from Nova Scotia

Hi,
I had trouble with attempts at lime plasters too until I was able to get
the right stuff. Made all the difference in the world. As described in the
"Lime" issue of The Last Straw, and previously on this list, Gen-Lime makes
a great plastering lime. Unfortunately, all my info is out at the house
site, but if you search the archives, you should be able to find info on
the company. They sent me a three gallon bucket of putty. A 3/1 sand/putty
mix stuck permanently to the earth plaster and dried hard as a rock with no
cracking, even though I didn't really cure it properly. The only Type S
mason's lime I can get locally has never worked very well no matter what
I've done. You might want to at least look into it before giving up on lime
entirely.
Good luck,
Mikal
