SB: Bricks and Cedar on SB?

Dear Kelly, I can't answer this question, but there are folks on the
strawbale list who might be able to. I'm posting it, and I hope you will get
some ideas from them.

 Hi Deanne,

We are building our strawbale dreamhouse. It's a timber frame structure.
The contractors are now finishing the roof, bales should be ready in 3 or 4
weeks. We are going to brick a portion of the exterior and put cedar up on
the rest. It is a fairly large home that we are investing a large sum of
money in.
So, that brings us to this question... If we are putting cedar (some brick)
over the bales, is it sufficient to wrap the bales in housewrap, then
plywood, then nail up the cedar siding - without putting a scratch coat on
the bails?
Our contractor has never done strawbale, in fact- we must be the first in
our area. Took us 2 years to get to this point, getting permits and
insurance and loan was a nightmare of red tape. Everyone thinks we are a
little bit crazy doing this, and some are just waiting to say "I told you it
wouldn't work". We don't want to do anything wrong. We have had a lot of
rain this year, so are concerned about moisture in the bales - in future
"rainy" seasons.

 Thank you for your time.

Hi Diane,

We are building our strawbale dreamhouse.  It's a timber frame structure.  The contractors are now finishing the roof, bales should be ready in 3 or 4 weeks.  We are going to brick a portion of the exterior and put cedar up on the rest.  It is a fairly large home that we are investing a large sum of money in.
So, that brings us to this question...  If we are putting cedar (some brick) over the bales, is it sufficient to wrap the bales in housewrap, then plywood, then nail up the cedar siding - without putting a scratch coat on the bails?
