SB: Re: [OkieBaleHeads] Re: Allergies or Irritants? an opinion

Jeffrey-

Thanks for your insight. For the first 45 years of my life, mold was
something you had in a damp basement or in a shower that you forgot to
wipe out or clothing that was left laying while damp! Usually a good
cleaning with some bleach water solved the problem.

Then all of a sudden there are "sick" buildings where people are ill,
schools are closed, new houses are demolished because the mold situation
is toxic to human health.Like Spuds man noted, the "mold count" is
included in the weather forecast and insurance coupanies are being sued
for millions of dollars.

It seems to me that there are too few people saying WHAAAAAAT?? to this
problem and too many are pointing fingers and insisting someone else is
responsible. A recently recurring question on both SB lists is one of
"sealing" up the house. Putting moisture barriers under the bale wall AND
some even wanting to put TYVEK on the bales! Has there been any study
done to see if the buildings that are most prevalent in the molds are the
ones that USED some of these moisture barriers?? Are we missing the
obvious here?

I don't know, but a possible correlation seemed possible to me and I
wondered if anyone knew of research. I can find lots of web sites that
talk about the problem, but very few with any real information.

Thanks again for sharing!

Jo
