once again, i don't know how you know all this stuff, and thanks for taking 
the time.  I wanted wooden gutters because I don't like the brown or white 
metal gutters....they are everywhere, and I wanted something different.

I doubt if I could make the joints water proof which is why I thought of 
the cheap pvc lining.  I'll dwell on what you have said.......thanks again,
