SB: Re: Re: Retro fit / adjusting bales to a set roof height
John wrote about the "Coffin":
The coffin is a box just about the size of a bale, but not as high. We drop the
bale into the box, then cut the strings and pull them back out of the way (the
box keeps the bale from flying apart). Then we shave the top of the bale with a
5 foot long, two-man bale saw we made; retie the bale and put it in place. We
have block inserts we put in the bottom of the coffin to raise the bale up to
the desired height.

A word to the wise about the coffin--It's really hard work to slice a bale
longways! We used it for a few places on our house, but I think it's much
easier to make custom sized bale "pillows" to stick in the tight places.
