Well, yeah. But consider the embodied energy involved in the shipping from
Carbondale Colorado to the west coast of N.A. where I am. Plus the shipping from
where-ever *they* come from to Carbondale, and so on. 

Better, perhaps, to find local pre-used wire and cut it/bend it up. Here-abouts
vineyard wire is plentiful. And it's already here!

I see that bamboo for pinning is available from Carbondale. Around here most
retail bamboo comes from Southeast Asia. Lots of diesel to push them container
boats along. Is this Colorado bamboo grown locally? I don't think so. And if it
were, why ship it away? Use it locally.

There can be more sustainable (actually less unsustainable) ways of building
than having materials shipped in from all corners of the earth.

Not to pick on the above referenced outfit, but there seems to be a common
notion that if some building system is considered "green" then it's somehow okay
to go to great lengths to obtain it. Rather missing the point it would seem.

Rice straw makes good construction bales but if what you have locally is flax,
then by all means use flax (or barley or wheat etc).
