Re: SB: Re: Concrete Countertops

I just got email from one of the concrete engineers I emailed about the
"shiny black concrete countertop" problem. I asked how he'd do it. His way
sounds gentle and usable.

"Add integral color to the mix.

Then, sprinkle black colorant powder on top after you
float it smooth, while the concrete is still moist.

Trowel, (just the surface), the powder in, and keep
troweling as the surface hardens to close the pores as
much as possible.

Seal with a food grade mineral oil. Two applications
should do. Then wax with a food grade wax, (the parafin
wax sold for canning in most grocery stores will work),
then buff."
