SB: straw bales in wet England

Help needed on ongoing discussion/debate on straw bale house in England.
I am interested in the idea, but am sceptical about the long term
survival of the walls in a wet and constantly high humidity environment.
Straw has been used there for roofing for thousands of years, but needs
to be replaced on a regular basis, perhapes around every 25 years for
straw and 70-80 for reed.
There are any number of individuals that are utilising new techniques
and materials, but to date, I am unaware of any practical straw bale
house other than experimental/demonstration versions.
