Sounds like the virus W32/BadTrans.   Check out 
http://www.mcaffee.com for details on how to eradicate it.

It's been going around a lot over the past week.  I've gotten at 
least 60 emails from it, including some from people I haven't talked 
to in at least 6 months.

Take the usual precautions.
