SB: CqueCantan CD - Some personal thoughts

Working on this year's CD, we were reminded about what a magnificent
experience the whole Casas que Cantan effort has been. We're not just
talking about the work in Mexico, which without a doubt has been most
fulfilling, but equally we are talking about the effort made by those on the
listserv as well as other friends and families. To us, it's been a
magnificently amazing experience. What we have watched happen in terms of
people coming together to give their support to those that they don't even
know is a story in itself. It's an incredible reminder that the human heart
is filled with lots of good and that when called upon, can be up to whatever
the task may be.

And what we are seeing at the moment is that the entire experience begins to
take on a life of its own. While writing this year's booklet, we could feel
ourselves being lifted up and inspired for what needs to be done in the
months ahead......released from the burdens of day to day responsibilities
that have a way of evaporating the meaning in one's life.

In many ways, the Casas que Cantan effort has been a beautiful demonstration
about how the wealth of the world can be neatly redistributed without a lot
of complex organization and paper work. The world can be a very inequitable
place and it's wonderful to see how many people have been willing to share
some of what they have with those who have a lot less. It's very easy for
those of us living in the more developed world to get lost in a vacuum that
fails to see the reality of the rest of the world. Thanks to all of you who
decided to look a little bit deeper.

And before we ramble on any further, reiterating what we've already said, we
just wanted to say thanks to all of you who have participated in this effort
over the past several years. But more than thanks, it would seem that what
we really wanted to say was that we are really amazed at the efforts many of
you have put out to make it all come to life. Lots of thanks to you Rob Tom
for being the real spark plug behind all this. Suzanne - to you for lots of
unbelievable effort last year in producing the CDs. We could go on and on,
but at the moment, we should throw in extra thanks to Harry, Dewey, Lupus
Asmathicas as well as many others who have helped Casas que Cantan a reality
and for reminding us of the importance of this work.

For the years ahead, hopefully we will see lots more booklets, lots more CDs
and lots more efforts to make the world a more beautiful and equitable place
to live. And it would seem that on that note, we should close:

Our best as well as our appreciation to all of you,
Athena and Bill Steen
