SB: Re: Seeking southern strawbale and rammed-earth examples

>Check out the strawbale registry. I think it is at the greenbuilder site.

Sure is: http://sbregistry.greenbuilder.com (or just go to
http://www.greenbuilder.com and follow the link).

There's only one listed in North Carolina so far - in Snow Camp,
wherever in heck that is.

This is the immediate reason we put the Registry online - so that
people who are interested can find SBs to visit in their area.

Other reasons include gathering data for future research, compiling
lists of mortgage and insurance companies who have covered SB, etc
etc. So, if you have a Straw Bale building, please enter it in the
Registry. If you don't want it published to the world, just click "No
Visitors" or "Research and Testing Only". Your privacy will be
honored.

I think that can be reworded: Strawbale IS good technology as long
as you pay close attention to details where problems can otherwise
occur, such as leaking at windows and potential capillary action from
whatever the bale is sitting on.

There are answers to those problems - see the Details issue of The
Last Straw, for instance (http://www.strawhomes.com) . Or the
archives of the Strawbale list.
