I won't add anything to the excellent comments which the Skillful Meany,
Lenny and Willy  have already offered other than to add "hubris" to
the Meany's list of "Reason's for Failure"   

But I will reiterate the following loose translations of:

(1) the Old Chinese saying:

                   "When a (wo)Man's house is finished
                     (s)He dies."

(2)  the Old Yiddish saying:

                      "(wo)Man makes plans
                         God laughs "

(or in its Old Scottish rendition) 
                     "The best-laid plans 
                      Of mice and men
                       Gang aft agley "

Me ? I've got to go and do the homework which TaskMaster Beel
so generously heaped on me for the weekend otherwise I'd stick
around and expand upon what the geriatric Chinese, Jew and Scot
were trying to tell us, presumably as they were on their way into a bar.
