SB: Re: [OkieBaleHeads] hello from unclejoe
Hi there guy- always good to hear from you and to paraphrase Mark Twain,
the suggestion of death is premature! I got a similar message from the
other SB list serve as well.
We are not working on any new straw bale projects just now, nor is anyone
I know of. There are one or two things that we've been approached about
but nothing writ in stone with an actual start date.
We are still trying to finish up the projects already on the ground here.
We had a visitor not too long ago who candidly commented how surprised he
was that anyone could live in a house for five years and it not be
totally complete. Clint and I just laughed.
The things that aren't "finished" on the big house are minor detailing
work. The cabin was an impromptu project and since it's future isn't yet
decided, there isn't a sense of urgency to finish there either. We do
work steadily on the barn and it is close to being really "complete" and
its our newest building!
Our good friend (and fellow SB home builder/dweller) Dan Madden will come
spend the day tomorrow with Clint and they will "play" on one of the
projects. Clint normally wouldn't take off work during the week, but
Dan's wife Jensie and I have a project that needs doing on a Wed so the
guys are adapting.
There are a lot of other folks who are finishing up, detailing, etc but
no new work that I know of. If there are folks who just can't wait to
help out on a project, and if they are smart enough to figure out there's
more to building than stacking straw, call someone who had a wall
stacking a couple of months ago and go help for a day-- wiring, building
interior walls, etc. You'll need to do those things on your house as
well.
Also, if folks out there are working on their project and want help-- let
us hear from you! Stay warm and healthy, Uncle Joe. Spring is coming, the
grain will be harvested, the straw will be baled and projects will be up
and running again!
