Hi Srawbale Folks:

We could use a hand setting in the strawbales on our new timberframe
addition to our house, which some of you helped raise this past fall.
We are going to do things a little different this time in that the bales
will be placed on edge and attached to frames of either 8"X8" timbers or
peeled poles.  This technique allows the bales to be easily added to an
already roofed frame (which means you don't have to worry about them
getting wet) and the frames, which are exposed to the inside, allows for
many attachment points for utilities, pictures, shelves, and cabinets.
Plus it will look real sharp.

Activities over the 2 days.  Installing the internal frames, laying and
attaching bales to frame; shaping and cutting bales to go around beams,
windows, under eaves, and butting up to joints; and, if there is time and
persons available, some fun will be had, cutting timbers and boards on the
bandsaw mill.

Coating of earth plasters will go on in the spring, when temperatures are
warmer.

Other Things to See and Do.  We will feed you lunch, make you a nice
bonfire out back, and for those of you who haven't been to our house before
you can see how we retrofit an older house with strawbales.

Kids welcome.

Things to bring:  Warm Boots, Warm Smile, and a big extension ladder if you
have one.

I rose from marsh mud,
algae, equisetum, willows,
sweet green, noisy
birds and frogs. . . .
