A balcony can easily be attached to a timber frame at
the beam/subfloor. The tricky part will be the
waterproofing details. The area of greatest threat
will be dripping on the wall below. A waterproof
membrane with a larger than normal drip edge angled
down should prevent snow melt and heavy rains from
running down the wall. I'm thinking 6" but I would
reccomend testing to be sure.
