Actually there is a simple solution that has been used
with plaster finishes for decades. In remodels of
older homes with lathe and plaster walls I find a
permanent scree board was used to control the plaster
width and provide a nailer for the trimboard. In
strawbale it would give the added benifit of keeping
the plaster/stucco from wicking water off the floor.
