Re: SB:Greetings from a Newbie

Ben, Angel, et al--

Please remember that the very bestest place (IMHO) to get any book on
alternative construction, sustainable living, etc etc is our list's own
Charmaine Taylor. Here's a little blurb I like to send out.

There are several excellent books on straw bale construction- the one
that is considered the "bible" is THE STRAW BALE HOUSE by Steen,
Bainbridge and Eisenberg. Also, BUILDING WITH BALES by Matts Myrnham,
SERIOUS STRAW BALE ( I don't remember the author on this), and any of the
booklets by Steve Kemble. I would suggest asking your librarian to check
interlibrary loan for some books and look through them before you spend
$100 or so on them.

Should you decide to order books, may I recommend Charmaine Taylor's on
line book store. Charmaine is quite an authority on alternative building,
especially plaster finsishes-- and recipes! So, in addition to having one
of the best selections of books, she's an excellent resource in herself.
