SB: drainge planes
I recently attended a lecture by Joe Lstiburek sponsored by our local Home
Builders Ass'n. Built Green Program in Traverse City MI. Lots of talk about
water infiltration in many forms. Kinda scary. Smart guy that Joe.
Anyway my question is; How do you incorporate a drainage plane behind earth
plaster on the exterior of the bale wall? I plan on a load bearing timber
frame exposed on the interior with a strawbale wrap, 1 1/2 stories with a
shed dormer and a sunspace along the front with a covered porch along the
rear. I'd like not to use stucco netting. As with any building the details
are important and our Building inspector would like to permit a strawbale
home but wants alot of reassurance as do I.
Also has anyone ever tried a product called Road Oyl as a stabilizer for
earth plaster? It's made of rosin and the leftovers of turpentine
distilling. It was in the Environmental Building News in Nov. '99
Thanks Jeff
