SB: Strawbale Registry update

Hi Folks,

FYI, here are the latest Straw Bale Registry statistics 
(http://sbregistry.greenbuilder.com).  There are 157 structures 
listed to date, in 11 countries.   Notable recent additions include 
Belgium, France, Chile, and Israel.

Most of the buildings listed are open to visitors by appointment. 
Please note, however, that you do NOT have to accept visitors in 
order to get counted in the aggregate numbers  - and listing your SB 
building as "No Visitors" will keep ALL your personal info private, 
but will still make a difference when we use the numbers gathered to 
influence lenders, insurers, code officials, etc!

The US lists strawbale buildings in 32 states so far, with California 
leading the way (21), followed by Texas (15), Arizona (12), Colorado 
and New Mexico (11 each).

Additionally, I had a chance to examine the webserver logs for the 
last couple of months...
During December 2001, we show 2261 hits on search.straw

  During Jan 2002, that jumped to 3708

Granted, those include intermediate hits to the search page as you 
"drill down" to the full details of a site (ie, US =>Tx=>Jo Wilhelm's 
Casa makes for 3 hits), but it gives a general sense of what's going 
on.

The most searched locations were:

   687:     United States
   282:    TX
   242:    CA
   164:   AZ
   132:    Canada
    98:    CO
    80:    WA
    73:   PA
    72:    Australia
    45:    NM

For those of you with multiple straw bale buildings under your belt - 
builders and architects, mostly - we're in the process of putting 
together an Excel spreadsheet that you'll be able to download, fill 
in, and email back, which should make it easier on you than using the 
web forms.  Shoot me an email if you're interested in getting a copy, 
and I'll be sure to let you know when it's ready.
