Eric,
You need to talk to Darrel DeBorer at <DDarrelD@aol.com>  He is an architect
in the Bay area very interested in working with bamboo and has done a few
small structures that I know of.  Another contact for you is Kyle Young in
southeastern Arizona at <katbambu@hotmail.com>.  He is a bamboo aficionado
par excellance and has also worked with straw.  Have at em.
